While the SKM pre feasibility report has valuable information, SKM Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) is the mandatory document that was submitted to the Fiji Government Regulatory Bodies (Department of Environment and Department of Mineral Resources) to satisfy their terms of reference. After their appraisal of the EIA, DoE granted approval to set up a water bottling enterprise on the property in June 2003. There has been no change in the environment impact since then. Consequently, the approval granted in 2003 is still valid

Furthermore, some work has been carried out on Spring No 5. It has been exposed to the solid underlying hard rock in order to capture, isolate and cap it for the water bottling plant. The spring has not been capped but it will be a simple exercise to cap it and isolate it from any possible contamination. In addition, 4-tonnes of best quality bentonite has been stored near spring site for the purpose of capping the spring. Unfortunately all this work is now overgrown with light vegetation but it will be a matter of simple earthworks to expose the spring again.
